Hiring Range:                     $25.65 – $30.78

Location:                             Coos Bay

This position is a covered position as defined in the Coquille Indian Tribe Chapter 185 Child Protection Ordinance.

Candidate must pass a pre-employment drug screen and Criminal and Character Background Check.

 

Summary of Major Functions

Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Services Administrator, assists in providing the highest level of quality patient care to patients of the Ko-Kwel Wellness Center. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1.   Collect blood and other laboratory specimens using established procedures.
  2.   Process, prepare, and ship laboratory specimens for testing.
  3.   Perform approved laboratory testing and maintain accurate documentation.
  4.   Obtain and record patient vital signs and assist with routine clinical procedures, including specimen collection,   injections, immunizations, and EKGs.
  5.   Perform quality control and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  6.   Maintain laboratory and medical supply inventory, including ordering and stocking supplies.
  7.   Manage the Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program, including vaccine storage, inventory, reporting, and compliance with state requirements.
  8.    Follow infection prevention and control procedures to maintain a safe clinical environment.
  9.    Collaborate with providers, staff, laboratories, and vendors to support patient care and resolve operational issues.
  10. Provide cross-coverage for Medical Assistant and front office responsibilities as needed.
  11. Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

The above statements reflect the general duties considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job as identified and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the job.  This position may involve transporting Native Americans and non-native patients and clients in the CHC vehicles, employee-owned vehicles and rental vehicles to and from a variety of CHC functions and activities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Requires the ability to communicate orally, repetitive movement of the wrists, hands and/or fingers, often requires walking, standing, sitting for extended periods of time, raising or lowering objects, climbing or balancing, kneeling, and occasionally requires lifting up to 25 pounds. Work is generally performed in a medical office and occasionally outdoors. Work involves exposure to hazardous materials, excessive noise, high risk/dangerous situations, and infectious disease. The individual must perform the essential duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation efficiently and accurately without causing a significant safety threat to self or others.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES  

Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  1.   Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to provide compassionate, professional care in a healthcare environment.
  2.   Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical procedures, medications, and injection techniques appropriate to the position.
  3.   Working knowledge of electronic health records (EHR), patient management systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
  4.   Knowledge of HIPAA, patient confidentiality requirements, and healthcare documentation standards.
  5.   Ability to accurately maintain medical records and complete documentation in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  6.   Ability to exercise sound judgment, prioritize work, and make decisions within established policies and procedures.
  7.   Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and composure while working with patients, families, and staff in stressful or sensitive situations.
  8.   Commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace that values diversity, equity, and respect for individual differences.
  9.   Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity to Tribal cultures, traditions, and communities, with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Qualifications:

Qualifications

  1.   High school diploma or GED required.
  2.   Certification or education as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Phlebotomist, or Laboratory Technician required.
  3.   Experience working in a medical office or outpatient healthcare setting, including supporting medical providers.
  4.   Experience using electronic health records (EHR) and patient management systems.
  5.   Knowledge of medical terminology, phlebotomy, and immunization administration.
  6.   Experience with Microsoft Office applications and standard computer software.
  7.   Current and valid Oregon driver’s license in good standing with no insurability issues with the Tribe’s insurance carrier is required.
  8.   Current First Aid/CPR certification or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
  9.   Must comply with Oregon mandatory reporting requirements for suspected abuse or neglect of infants and children, people who are elderly or dependent, individuals with mental illness or development disabilities or residents of nursing homes and other health care facilities.
  10.   Experience with patient scheduling systems and multi-line telephone systems is preferred.
  11.   Experience working in a Tribal health clinic, community health center, or similar healthcare setting is preferred.
