Position Overview
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys physical, hands-on work and wants to learn a skilled trade. As a Hearth & Spa Installation Technician (Install Helper / Apprentice), you will work directly under a Lead Installer assisting with the installation of wood, gas, and pellet stoves, fireplaces, and inserts, as well as hot tub deliveries and setup.
This is a growth-oriented position with the opportunity to develop into a lead installer over time. We are willing to train the right person with limited experience if you hold the motivation and drive to develop a career.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead installer with:
- Hearth appliance installations (wood, gas, pellet stoves & fireplaces)
- Chimney liner installations and venting systems
- Fireplace inserts and remodel work
- Learn and assist with:
- Chimney cleaning and inspections
- Basic service and troubleshooting
- Support hot tub deliveries and on-site setup
- Operate forklift and assist with loading/unloading materials
- Receive and organize incoming inventory and deliveries
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness and organization
- Perform job site prep and cleanup
- Follow all safety procedures and OSHA guidelines
- Communicate effectively with team members and customers on-site
Requirements
- Ability to lift 100 lbs repeatedly and safely
- Comfortable with:
- Working at heights (roofs, ladders)
- Climbing, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods
- Valid driver’s license with a clean or acceptable driving record
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- Ability to work in all weather conditions (heat, cold, snow, rain)
- Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand and power tools
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Willingness to follow direction and learn from feedback
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and job scopes
- Intermediate math skills (measuring, angles, clearances, calculations)
- Ability to use apps, tablets, and basic computer systems for job tracking
- Clean, professional appearance when interacting with customers
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required, But a Plus)
- Framing, construction, or carpentry experience
- Experience with roofing, siding, or exterior work
- Forklift certification or experience
- Knowledge of:
- Venting systems (Class A chimney, direct vent, etc.)
- Electrical basics (circuits, wiring concepts)
- Gas systems (LP/Natural Gas basics)
- Previous experience in:
- Hearth industry (fireplaces, stoves, chimney work)
- HVAC, construction, or skilled trades
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting ability

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
