Position Summary:
The maintenance technician is responsible for safely performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment to support the achievement of Copperweld’s business goals and objectives.
Job Responsibilities:
Proven preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair on AC/DC motors, pumps, sumps, gearboxes, hydraulic units, analog/digital drives, lift trucks, machinery and industrial equipment
Demonstrated ability to safely disassemble equipment, recommend replacement parts and reassemble equipment; makes sound judgments on when to replace parts
Proven experience in hydraulics and pneumatics; understanding fluid power
Welding and ability to fabricate machine parts from drawings for equipment repairs preferred
Demonstrated ability to use measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, etc.) and electrical equipment (amp meter, ohmmeter, megger, voltmeter and other basic electrical tools)
Reads and interprets wiring diagrams, schematics, ladder logic and electrical specifications
Demonstrated working knowledge of electrical standards and codes with skills installing single and three phase wiring
Understand AC, DC and variable frequency drives and how each functions; troubleshoots to determine root cause of malfunction
Sound Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) knowledge; ability to troubleshoot, create and modify programs preferred
Capable of performing replacement drive installations
Ability to understand and complete Auto CAD drawings a plus
Have an understanding of Reliability Principles
Knowledge of Predictive Technology and Measures
Participate in Failure Reporting and Root Cause Analysis

Two (2) year technical degree in Maintenance Mechanics or Industrial Maintenance Technology
Three (3) or more years of experience as an Industrial Electrician and/or Maintenance Mechanic preferred
Continued growth of technical knowledge, skills and proficiency required
Flexibility to work on any shift
Team player and self-starter; strong interpersonal skills and ability to build working relationships with cross-functional teams
Basic computer skills
Safety Requirements:
Must wear safety shoes with steel toe and metatarsal guard, safety glasses with side shields and ear protection
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
Must be able to meet physical job demands including light to medium lifting, pushing and pulling weight requirements, bending, crouching, kneeling, stooping, twisting, reaching, etc.
Must understand, work and at all times be aware of potential mechanical and electrical hazards and safeguard against such hazards
Must understand and comply with Hazard Communication and Hazardous Waste management guidelines
