What are the responsibilities and job description for the Telecom Network Engineer position at Copper Valley Telecom?
Copper Valley Telecom is looking for experienced, collaborative, and motivated Telecom Network Engineers to join our team! CVT Network Engineers provide engineering support for both inside and outside communications facilities in Glennallen or Valdez, AK, while working closely with the Plant and IT Departments. Together, these teams design, implement, maintain, and upgrade all aspects of the core, access, and distribution networks and associated equipment, including the design and support of services deployed via a variety of platforms.
We are looking for someone who understands the general engineering of transport and switching infrastructures, LAN, WAN, VLAN, and VPN operations, and network design principles. You should have general knowledge of TCP/IP, SIP, Sonet, Ethernet, VoIP, and hosted PBX voice service and the ability to perform basic design and troubleshooting of those platforms.
The ideal candidate would have CCENT certification, an associate degree in electrical engineering, and two years of experience in telecom network engineering; however, a combination of other education and IT experience may be accepted. Candidates with a high degree of prior experience and education may be eligible for advanced classifications (Network Engineer II or III).
This is a full time, hourly, non-exempt position with a starting wage of $38.79 – $48.49 per hour (depending on experience and education). This is an IBEW represented position (need not be a current member to apply) and requires satisfactory results of a background check and drug screen (excluding marijuana).
