We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Supervisor to oversee quality assurance processes in our manufacturing facility. The Production Quality Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily inspection and quality control activities within production. This role ensures that quality standards, processes, and inspection protocols are consistently followed to meet customer, regulatory, and company requirements. The supervisor provides leadership to the inspection team, coordinates training and qualification of operators, and supports continuous improvement initiatives through monitoring, auditing, and corrective action management.Responsibilities
Quality Control & Inspection Oversight
- Ensure measurement tool validations are performed daily and properly documented.
- Maintain and update the list of operators approved/qualified/trained to use calibrated inspection tools.
- Enforce proper use of yellow and red paint identification for out-of-specification parts.
- Verify operator re-inspection of yellow parts and ensure results are documented.
- Monitor that Go & No Go gages are in use on every job and tracked by operators.
- Ensure sample plans are completed for each job and that inspection quantities are achieved.
- Conduct regular audits of inspection benches and labs for cleanliness, organization, and compliance.
- Ensure inspection and laboratory documents (new or revised) are controlled and routed through the Quality Manager.
Documentation & Compliance
- Verify and track that operators and inspectors fill out work orders accurately.
- Maintain training logs for inspectors and operators, including skill assessments and certifications
- Ensure scrap & remediation logs are completed, accurate, and reported.
- Oversee non-conformance tracking, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions in collaboration with supervisors and the Quality Manager.
- Support the creation, updating, and release of work instructions for inspection and production processes.
- Conduct and document internal process audits to ensure compliance with ISO and company standards.
Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise, coach, and support the inspection team to ensure effective performance of duties.
- Conduct skill level evaluations based on tracked data and daily performance metrics.
- Facilitate 30-60-90 day performance documentation for new hire employees.
- Conduct regular team meetings to promote teamwork, alignment, and consistency.
- Provide training and guidance to operators and inspectors on inspection methods, gage usage, and quality requirements.
- Monitor employee performance, attendance, and conduct, applying disciplinary action when necessary in accordance with company policies.
Continuous Improvement
- Collaborate with production supervisors and the Quality Manager to drive root cause investigations and process improvements.
- Identify trends in quality data and implement preventive measures to reduce defects and non-conformances.
- Promote a culture of cleanliness, organization, and discipline in inspection and laboratory environments.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, or related field preferred).
- 3 years of experience in manufacturing quality assurance or inspection supervision.
- Strong knowledge of inspection tools, gages, and measurement techniques.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or ISO 17025 quality standards.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Strong communication, leadership, and coaching skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and quality documentation systems.
Preferred:
- Experience in fastener manufacturing or precision machining.
- Previous responsibility for internal audits, non-conformance tracking, and corrective action systems.
- Formal training in root cause analysis, problem-solving, and continuous improvement methods (e.g., 5-Why, Fishbone, Lean, Six Sigma).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work on the production floor for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. as needed.A
- Ability to visually inspect parts for conformance.
