Summary
The Patient Access Representative serves as the first point of contact for patients across all CRNA clinics. This position is responsible for patient registration, scheduling appointments, answering phones, and performing general front office duties to ensure a seamless patient experience. The role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Essential Job Duties
Registration & Scheduling:
• Register patients accurately in the electronic health record system.
• Schedule appointments for Dental, Behavioral Health, Primary/Urgent Care, and Wellness clinics.
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations.
• Issue appointment reminders and manage cancellations/reschedules.
Administrative & Front Office:
• Answer incoming calls promptly and route them appropriately.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding services, appointments, and billing.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Assist with intake forms and documentation.
Coordination:
• Communicate with clinical teams to ensure smooth patient flow.
• Collaborate with billing and eligibility teams for insurance verification.
• Support patient transport requests and other logistical needs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in scheduling software and EHR systems.
• Sensitivity to Alaska Native culture and lifestyle.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) year of experience in a healthcare or administrative setting.
• CPR/First Aid certification within 90 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
• Associate’s degree in business or healthcare administration.
• Two (2) years of experience in patient access or medical office setting.
Working Conditions
Office environment with routine walking, standing, and lifting up to 25 lbs. Occasional local travel between CRNA service sites. Must maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
