We are seeking a full-time Field Crew Leader on our livestock farm. Start date is as soon as possible, and the position will last through November 2026. Year-round work may be available for the right candidate. The position is full-time, 40-45 hours and 5-6 days per week including weekends as needed. Generally, work takes place during daylight hours, but early morning and evening work may be required at times.
The Field Crew Leader will work directly with the Farm Manager to help lead & supervise the farm team, and ensure the farm is operating efficiently. Applicants should have excellent leadership, organizational, interpersonal and people management skills. Applicants should also be comfortable supervising, offering feedback, taking instructions, and navigating conflict compassionately.
ABOUT OUR FARM:
We are a family-owned and operated small-scale livestock farm located in Dartmouth Massachusetts. We raise meat chickens, laying hens, pigs, turkeys, and sheep on pasture. We also distribute grass-fed beef raised on a local farm. Almost all of our products are sold directly to consumers via farmers markets and home delivery.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and work alongside a small farm crew in a daily livestock operation.
- Oversee livestock care, including feeding, watering, moving animals, monitoring health, and record keeping
- Assist with weekly crating, slaughtering, and packaging of poultry.
- Lead and work alongside crews to complete farmstead and equipment maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous farm or agricultural experience (especially livestock)
- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience
- Strong work ethic and ability to perform physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions
- Must be willing to work in a poultry slaughterhouse - previous experience is not necessary.
- Ability to operate basic farm equipment including tractors, skid steers, trucks, livestock trailers, etc.
- Familiarity with basic carpentry and mechanical skills and tools
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass a basic criminal background and driving history check.
COMPENSATION: $21-25/hour depending on experience. Generous stipend of farm products including meat and eggs.
Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
