Copeland Lumber is seeking an experienced, motivated Assistant Manager to help lead our team and deliver outstanding service our customers have come to expect. This is an excellent opportunity for a knowledgeable building materials professional who enjoys leading people, solving problems, and helping contractors, builders, and homeowners succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with Store Manager to oversee daily operations and drive store performance
- Lead, coach, and develop a team committed to exceptional customer service
- Assist contractors and homeowners with lumber, hardware, and building material selections
- Support inventory management, merchandising, purchasing, receiving, and minimizing shortages
- Promote a safe, organized, and productive work environment
- Step into the Store Manager's role when needed
- Address and resolve customer complaints
- Confirm employees adhere to company's policies and guidelines
Qualifications:
- Leadership or management experience in a lumberyard, hardware store, building supply or related industry preferred
- Knowledge of lumber, building materials, hardware, and construction products
- Ability to build relationships with contractors, professional builders, and retail customers
- Proven leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable lifting up to 50 pounds and working both indoors and outdoors
- Flexible availability, including some weekends
- Excellent communication skills
- Positive attitude
