Duties/Responsibilities:
Select therapy activities to fit patients' needs and capabilities
Communicate and collaborate with other healthcare professionals involved in patient care
Instruct or assist in instructing patients and families in home programs, basic living skills, and the care and use of adaptive equipment
Implement or assist occupational therapists with implementing treatment plans to help clients function independently
Assess daily living skills and capacities of physically, developmentally or emotionally disabled clients
Assemble, clean, and maintain equipment and materials for patient use
Demonstrate therapy techniques such as manual and creative arts or games
Teach patients how to deal constructively with their emotions
Attend care plan meetings to review patient progress and update care plans
Required Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge and skills to care for patient needs of the SNF population
Problem-solving skills to successfully perform job
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong customer service orientation
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with other employees, patients, and family members
Ability to travel as needed to perform job
Ability to use tools used to make adaptive equipment
Education and Experience:
Associate's degree from an accredited occupational therapy program
Current state licensure as Occupational Therapy Assistant
Proficiency with all applicable state, federal, and professional standards
Physical Requirements:
Duties require extensive standing and walking
Requires lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients
Duties require frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching
