Cooperidge Consulting Firm is seeking a Senior Solar Systems Design Engineer for a top Renewable Energy client.This high-impact role requires at least five years of experience to lead the comprehensive engineering and design of technically complex solar PV plus energy storage systems for commercial and industrial projects. The Engineer is responsible for delivering innovative solutions using cutting-edge technology, driving continuous improvement in design processes, and coordinating projects across cross-functional teams in Irvine, CA.Job ResponsibilitiesConduct site walks, gather and analyze site data (electrical, structural, environmental), and evaluate feasibility for PV Energy Storage System (ESS) projects.Lead detailed system designs, including site plans, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), conduit schedules, and complex utility interconnection packages.Utilize industry-standard tools like PVSyst, Helioscope, HOMER, and SAM for performance modeling and accurate energy estimates.Ensure all system designs rigorously meet relevant codes and standards (NEC, CEC, UL, IEEE) and specific utility requirements.Coordinate effectively with project managers, utilities, permitting authorities, and construction teams throughout the project lifecycle.Support all necessary permitting, utility interconnection, and final commissioning activities.Set and refine internal CAD standards and oversee drafting workflows to maintain high quality and efficiency.Drive continuous improvement of internal design templates and engineering processes.RequirementsEducationBachelor of Science (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required.ExperienceMinimum of five (5) or more years of experience designing solar PV and energy storage systems is required.One (1) year of team leadership or mentoring experience is preferred.Certifications/LicensesStrong knowledge of NEC 690/705/706, UL 1741-SA, and IEEE 1547 standards is required.EIT or NABCEP certification is a plus.SkillsProficiency in AutoCAD, PVSyst, and one-line diagram development is mandatory.Familiarity with DC/AC coupled systems and advanced energy storage integration (e.g., Tesla, Fluence) is required.Experience with major IOU interconnection processes (PG&E, SCE, SDG&E, etc.) is highly desirable.Excellent technical documentation and cross-functional communication skills are required.BenefitsFull-time roles offering overtime and weekend work opportunitiesCompetitive hourly wages plus potential quarterly bonusesComprehensive health, vision, and dental insurance plansLife insurance coverage401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributionsPaid time off including vacation, sick leave, and holidaysOpportunities for career growth and advancementEmployee discount programs and perks
