PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Spotter is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and removing stains and spots from garments and fabrics prior to or after the dry-cleaning process. This position requires detailed knowledge of fabric types, stain removal techniques, and the safe use of chemicals and spotting equipment. The Spotter ensures that all garments meet the company’s quality standards before being moved to the next stage of production.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Inspect garments for stains, spots, and discoloration.
• Identify fabric type and determine the appropriate cleaning method and chemical treatment.
• Apply spotting agents, solvents, or solutions using appropriate tools such as brushes, steam guns, or vacuum heads.
• Remove spots using steam, air, or water flow to flush out chemicals and residues.
• Monitor treated areas to ensure stains are removed without damaging the fabric.
• Maintain accurate records of garments treated and report any items that are damaged or beyond restoration.
• Keep the spotting area clean, organized, and properly stocked with supplies.
• Follow all company safety procedures related to chemical handling and personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Work collaboratively with cleaning machine operators, pressers, and quality control personnel.
• Assist with other production tasks as needed.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a dry-cleaning or laundry environment preferred.
• Knowledge of various fabrics (cotton, silk, wool, synthetics) and stain-removal techniques.
• Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
• Ability to stand for long periods and work in a warm, humid environment.
• Reliable attendance and ability to work efficiently under production timelines.
• Basic understanding of workplace safety and chemical handling procedures.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

• Standing for extended periods.
• Exposure to heat, steam, and cleaning chemicals (with proper PPE).
• Fast-paced production environment.
• Must follow all OSHA and company safety standards.
• Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds.
• Frequent bending, reaching, and handling of garments.
• Good eyesight and color vision to identify stains and discoloration.

SCHEDULE HOURS

• 10am start time until daily workload completion.
• Rotational weekends and holidays.
• Schedules will fluctuate based on need.
