Short Description
- Individual should have a strong understanding of accounting theory.
- This includes but not limited to thorough knowledge of the P&L and Balance Sheet, as well as the impact of journal entries to all financial statements.
- Individual should have strong analytical skills and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management.
- Individual will be required to guide staff accountants when necessary and in the absence of manager.
- Under moderate supervision, performs full performance professional level accounting work; processes financial transactions: prepares financial records, reports and invoices; and guides management through financial decision making to ensure compliance with fiscal rules and polices in accordance with using grant guidelines, including GAAP, GASB, FASB accounting regulations, and 2 CFR 200, Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (Uniform Guidance).
Experience Required
Minimum 4 years of experience in general or grant accounting fields.
Experience in sponsored project (post-award) administration or professional level accounting experience reconciling accounting discrepancies, analyzing expenditures and preparing financial reports.
Experience with account analysis, balance sheet review, journal posting, bank reconciliations.
Intermediate level spreadsheet skills; experience with ERP/GL financial reporting software.
Preferred, not required: Healthcare experience and grant/foundation accounting
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree (BS or BA) in accounting, finance or business administration and at least four years accounting experience.
