Cooper Trachtenberg Law Group, LLC is a premier boutique family law firm seeking an experienced Family Law Paralegal to join our tight-knit team. This is not an entry-level role; we are looking for a legal professional who can operate with a high degree of autonomy, who can provide support for attorneys to help manage cases, and seamlessly drive files from inception through completion, which may include trial.

Key ResponsibilitiesSubstantive Legal Drafting & Case Management
● Pleadings & Orders: Assist in drafting legal documents, including court orders, routine petitions, settlement packages, financial affidavits, detailed balance sheets, and formal correspondence.
● Pretrial & Trial Prep: Prepare initial drafts of comprehensive pretrial memoranda. Spearhead trial preparation by organizing exhibit notebooks, drafting subpoenas, and coordinating trial logistics.
● Financial Analysis: Review and analyze financial documents to help prepare financial affidavits, discovery, and balance sheets.
● Docket & Deadline Management: Proactively monitor court dockets and critical case timelines; actively manage attorney schedules to ensure filing deadlines are met. Assist in scheduling meetings with clients,settlement meetings with attorneys, depositions, etc.
Court Relations & Litigation Support
● E-Filing Mastery: Execute electronic filings flawlessly across Cook, Lake, and DuPage county portals.
● Court Coordination: Secure court dates, submit final settlement documents and court orders to chambers, schedule court reporters when needed, and arrange for prompt delivery of courtesy copies to judges.
Client & Vendor Communication
● Discovery Production: Act as the primary liaison with clients to gather documentation and prepare drafts of discovery responses.
● Client Advisory: Serve as a compassionate, professional, and accessible point of contact for clients, delivering timely status updates and obtaining necessary case information.
Billing & Financial Operations (Cross-Training with Billing & Bookkeeping Staff)
● Input time entries, run monthly billing cycles via billing portals and specialized software, implement attorney revisions, proofread financial statements, and field client billing inquiries with professionalism and discretion.
Qualifications & Experience● Experience: 5 years of dedicated family law/domestic relations paralegal experience within Illinois (Cook, Lake, and/or DuPage county experience preferred).
● Education: A paralegal degree or certification is a plus, but proven, hands-on family law experience is heavily prioritized.
● Technical Proficiencies: Microsoft Office Suite, MAC OS, Adobe Acrobat Professional, and county e-filing portals are required. Experience with Timeslips billing software is a major advantage.
