The Data Governance Lead will be responsible for building Cooper’s Hawk’s data governance program from the ground up, ensuring data across our systems is accurate, consistent, secure, and aligned to business priorities. This individual will be responsible for setting up the data governance council through close collaboration with business stakeholders to define critical data elements, establish data quality standards, and drive cross-functional alignment on key metrics and performance indicators. This individual will also be responsible for spearheading the metadata management effort encompassing selection of a data catalog tool and leading the cataloging effort.

The Data Governance Lead will be responsible for building Cooper’s Hawk’s data governance program from the ground up, ensuring data across our systems is accurate, consistent, secure, and aligned to business priorities. This individual will be responsible for setting up the data governance council through close collaboration with business stakeholders to define critical data elements, establish data quality standards, and drive cross-functional alignment on key metrics and performance indicators. This individual will also be responsible for spearheading the metadata management effort encompassing selection of a data catalog tool and leading the cataloging effort.
What You’ll Do:
Build and Lead Enterprise Data Governance
- Design and implement Cooper’s Hawk’s first formal data governance framework, policies, and processes.
- Establish the foundational governance operating model, including roles, responsibilities, and stewardship structure.
- Collaborate with stakeholders in Marketing, Operations, Finance, IT, Culinary, and Wine Club to understand data needs and align governance priorities.
- Lead cross-functional governance forums or councils to foster alignment and accountability across departments on data assets definition and certification.
- Partner with business teams to identify and define enterprise KPIs, metrics, and data definitions to ensure consistency in reporting and analytics.
- Develop and maintain a business glossary and metadata repository for shared understanding of key data assets.
- Define data quality rules and measurements for core domains such as guest data, transactions, reservations, membership, and financials.
- Implement data quality dashboards and processes for ongoing monitoring, issue resolution, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and enforce policies around data privacy, classification, and access, ensuring compliance with data security and privacy policies.
- Work with IT and legal teams to manage data risk, support audits, and establish clear data handling protocols.
- Provide governance leadership on enterprise projects including personalization, advanced analytics, CRM integration, and loyalty/membership expansion.
- Assist in evaluating and implementing governance and cataloging tools (e.g., Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Alation).
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Management, Information Systems, Business, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in data governance, data quality, and enterprise data management.
- Proven track record of building or significantly contributing to a data governance program from scratch including data quality framework, metadata management framework and data stewardship model.
- Strong experience collaborating with business and technical stakeholders to define KPIs, metrics, and data standards.
- Knowledge of data privacy and compliance frameworks.
- Experience in the hospitality, restaurant, or wine/retail industry.
- Familiarity with CRM, POS, ERP, Azure platform, and loyalty/membership platforms.
- Experience with data cataloging, metadata management, or governance tools.
- Experience with Azure Purview is a plus.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills with ability to influence across levels.
- Play a critical leadership role in shaping enterprise data culture from the ground up.

Salary : $120,000 - $140,000
