What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inside Sales Representative position at Cooper Machinery Services?
INSIDE SALES REPRESENTATIVE
A mechanical aptitude and strong people skills? Your hands-on experience just became your next career move. You can become the voice our customer’s trust! Cooper Machinery Services is looking for an Inside Sales Representative to work directly with our customers — and we want you to bring real mechanical know-how to the table.
Since 1833, the names Cooper-Bessemer, Ajax, and Superior have powered the natural gas industry — and today, that legacy runs through the people who keep customers moving. As an Inside Sales Representative in Marshall, TX, you'll be the trusted voice customers hear when they need parts, answers, and solutions fast. If you thrive on solving problems, building relationships, and owning a deal from quote to delivery, this is your seat at the table with a company that services more than 22,000 units across the globe.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Own the full customer experience — managing price and delivery inquiries, formal quotes, sales orders, and service orders with speed, accuracy, and basic technical support.
- Coordinate product deliveries across four production facilities and end-user sites worldwide, keeping logistics on track.
- Build lasting relationships with customers, account managers, and project managers that turn service into sales opportunities.
- Resolve customer issues quickly, escalating when needed, so nothing falls through the cracks.
- Bring a customer-first mindset to a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment — consistently meeting or exceeding targets.
- Take full ownership of commercial transactions, navigating complex commercial terms and incoterms with confidence.
- Pitch in on warehouse tasks like pulling parts and running inventory checks when the team needs you.
- Take on additional responsibilities as the role and business evolve.
WHO YOU ARE
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree strongly preferred.
- 5-7 years of sales or customer care experience in oil & gas, power, heavy equipment, or automation & controls.
- Knowledgeable of engines and engine parts.
- A strong communicator — confident on the phone, sharp in writing, and an active listener.
- Highly organized, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
- Comfortable adapting on the fly when the unexpected happens.
- Able to read blueprints and shop manuals with ease.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Safety-focused, service-oriented, and results-driven — a self-starter who brings urgency and dependability to every deal.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Hands-on familiarity with SAP.
- Background in reciprocating engine or compressor packages, or related industrial equipment.
- Track record of managing complex commercial terms and international incoterms.
