Overview
Seeking a professional and experienced Florida Paralegal to join our Estate Planning team on a part time basis. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable of Florida probate laws, procedures, and court rules, with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of an Attorney, gathers information about a deceased person’s assets and debts, prepares necessary legal documents for probate court filings, communicates with beneficiaries, manages estate assets, and ensures proper distribution of assets according to the will or applicable laws.
- Transcribes legal documents and correspondence as required.
- Assists with estate planning processes, including drafting wills and trusts.
- Provides executive administrative support to attorneys, managing schedules and appointments.
- Files legal documents with appropriate courts or agencies in a timely manner.
- Performs legal administrative tasks such as maintaining case files, saving emails and documents to document management system, etc.
- Conducts legal research on probate laws and procedures relevant to the jurisdiction.
Skills
- Florida Paralegal certification or equivalent education/experience.
- Strong understanding of probate laws, procedures, and court rules.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Proficiency in legal research and document drafting.
- Familiarity with NetDocs and Interactive Legal, a plus.
- Performs other required duties as assigned.
