ESTIMATING ENGINEER
Location: Dallas, Texas
Cooper Construction is currently seeking an estimating engineer that estimates labor, material and subcontractor costs for proposals on construction projects. This role will prepare estimates, coordinate with project management for purchases of required materials and subcontractors and develop relationships with subcontractors for future bidding.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares subcontractor solicitation lists, calls subcontractors and suppliers to interest them in bidding with us.
- Obtains assistance from material supply representatives in lining-up prospective bidders.
- Provides prospective subcontractors and suppliers with bidding information.
- Reviews plans and specifications.
- Performs detail quantity surveys.
- Directly takes off major scope components.
- Reviews specifications and the plans thoroughly for the takeoff work for which they are responsible.
- Report any unusual circumstances to the Senior Preconstruction Manager(s).
- Analyzes quotations from subcontractors and vendors.
- Maintain personal contact with subcontractors and suppliers to promote working relationships for future bidding.
- Must be capable of operating software required for this job.
- Maintains sub-list system with current information from subcontractors and vendors.
REQUIREMENTS
- A bachelor’s degree or master's degree in construction, engineering, or related field.
- Proven interest in industrial estimating.
- Experience working in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam (or similar software)
