We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Purchasing Manager to support our growing Preconstruction and Self-Perform divisions. This role reports directly to the Director of Preconstruction and is responsible for managing procurement activities, generating subcontract scopes and purchase orders, coordinating material purchases, and preparing submittals for self-performed work. The ideal candidate will bring strong communication skills, a disciplined approach to documentation, and a solid understanding of construction processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, issue, and track subcontract agreements and purchase orders in alignment with project specifications and company standards.
- Manage procurement of materials for the self-perform division, including quantity verification, vendor pricing, and lead-time evaluation.
- Evaluate vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and quality compliance.
- Coordinate delivery schedules with project managers, superintendents, and field personnel to maintain workflow efficiency and avoid delays.
- Monitor material shipments, confirm receipt, and promptly resolve delivery discrepancies or logistical conflicts.
- Generate and assemble submittal packages for self-performed scopes of work, including product data, cut sheets, and manufacturer documentation.
- Review construction drawings and specifications to ensure accurate procurement and submittal preparation.
- Maintain organized procurement records, logs, and tracking tools for reporting and internal coordination.
- Collaborate with the Preconstruction team during bidding and buyout phases to capture scope requirements and procurement needs.
- Support continuous improvement of procurement processes, templates, and internal workflows.
- Establish and foster relationships with subcontractors and vendors.
- Manage warehouse stock of materials, tools, and equipment.
Qualifications
- Current US Citizenship required; Security Clearance a plus, but is not required.
- Experience in construction procurement, subcontracting, construction administration, or a related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction documents, specifications, and submittal processes.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines across various projects.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word, and Bluebeam, Adobe, or other PDF editors.
- Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and document control discipline.
- Familiarity with Federal, secure-site, or SCIF-related construction is beneficial but not required.
