The Public Affairs Executive will be actively engaged in managing client relationships and activities, including developing client strategy and executing plans, including coalition building, writing press releases and advisories, pitching media, drafting and placing op-eds and letters to the editor, and supporting general needs across the firm.
As a part of a small firm, the Public Affairs Executive will be engaged in all the firm’s public affairs activities, including grassroots/grasstops outreach, strategy development, and consulting.
- Design and execute strategic public affairs plans and campaigns on behalf of clients
- Engage with internal teams to produce and refine deliverables for clients
- Serve as a reliable resource for all team members
- Conduct research to support client goals as appropriate, including public domain materials, key databases, and surveys/qualitative research
- Craft thoughtful written work for clients, including reports, press materials, media pitches, strategic plans, and other materials
- BA/BS in Political Science, Journalism, Marketing or Communications or 5 years equivalent industry experience
- 3-6 years communications, public relations, marketing or executive communications experience
- Organizational and business maturity
- Strong ability to manage multiple communication projects simultaneously and drive strong work-back plans
- Great attention to detail and accuracy in all communications deliverables
- Strong cross-group collaboration skills and ability to drive coordination across all levels and stakeholders
- Social media skills, interest and/or experience is helpful
- Can thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and can adapt plans and approaches quickly to meet business needs
- Interest in or experience developing new business a plus
