What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paraprofessional 2026-2027 - Primary level position at Cool Spring Primary School?
SUPERVISOR: Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 months
Under the direction of a certified classroom teacher and/or school administrator, paraprofessionals supplement student education and assist with instruction, behavior management, and/or administrative duties. They support the physical, behavioral, and academic needs of a group of students.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum high school diploma/GED or higher.
- Has met all requirements for designation of "Highly Qualified" status
- Complete two years of study at an institution of higher education; or
- Obtain an associate’s (or higher) degree; or
- Meet a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate, through a formal state or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics
- Experience preferred.
- CPR, AED, and First Aide certification preferred.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serves as a paraprofessional with direct supervision of students.
- Demonstrate professionalism through prompt and regular attendance as well as appropriate attire.
- Compiles, maintains and submits all required records.
- Communicate concerns regarding academics and behavior in a timely manner.
- Adhere to deadlines.
PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling.
