Independent Courier Opportunity (1099 Contractor)
Service Area: From Ardmore, OK to Pasadena, TX
Cool Runnings Courier Services is actively seeking dependable, detail-oriented drivers to join our courier network as independent contractors. Whether you are semi-retired, have flexible availability, or are already working with rideshare or delivery platforms, this is a great opportunity to earn additional income on a flexible schedule.
Compensation & Pay Structure
- Mileage-Based Pay: Compensation is calculated based on the round-trip mileage from your local area (not from your home). NO hourly compensation.
- Starting Rate: $0.375 per mile
- Top-Out Rate: $0.50 per mile
- Fuel Reimbursement: $0.0725 per mile (adjusted based on regional fuel averages per eia.gov)
- Holiday Bonus: 15% for holiday and associated weekend runs
- Situational Bonuses: May be awarded in specific high-demand or urgent delivery scenarios.
About the Role
As a 1099 independent contractor, you will operate as your own business while partnering with Cool Runnings Courier Services to deliver samples of products manufactured at a refinery or a chemical plant to a lab for testing. You maintain full control over your schedule and have the freedom to accept or decline delivery opportunities. Our work includes both scheduled and on-demand deliveries—day or night—with an emphasis on reliability, professionalism, and customer satisfaction.
Driver Delivery Opportunities – Currently Hiring
We are currently onboarding drivers who meet the following qualifications:
- Flexible Availability: Able to drive during days, evenings, nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Route Handling: Capable of completing deliveries efficiently and accurately.
- Adaptability: Able to respond to last-minute changes, additions, or reroutes without delay.
- Attention to Detail: Follows instructions carefully, confirms delivery accuracy, and documents as required. If information does not match what was previously discussed, you must be bale to recognize that, and then call Dispatch immediately before proceeding further.
- Professional Communication: Must respond promptly and clearly to dispatch communications consistently every time.
- Phone Responsiveness: Actively monitors and responds to dispatch calls and texts while on call.
- Issue Recognition: Able to identify issues in real time and seek guidance without hesitation.
Applicants must consistently meet these expectations to remain eligible for ongoing assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Accept and complete assigned deliveries safely, promptly, and professionally.
- Maintain open and timely communication with dispatch throughout each run.
- Use your smartphone and GPS tools to follow instructions and document delivery steps.
- Be on time for pickup location and dont waste time getting to delivery location
- Notify dispatch of any delay expected to exceed 30 minutes.
- Follow all safety procedures—drivers are never expected to speed or compromise safety.
- Do not make decisions on behalf of clients without prior dispatcher approval.
Driver Requirements
- Reliable, fuel-efficient personal vehicle.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license, auto insurance, and proof of citizenship.
- Negative drug screening (covering the previous 60 days).
- Smartphone with GPS and camera functionality.
- Direct deposit-enabled bank account.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written instructions.
- Clear and consistent communication, especially after accepting a run.
- You must live no more than 30 minutes away from location described in listing
Weekly Pay Schedule & Net 30 Terms
Our clients are invoiced weekly, with a payment window of up to 30 days (Net 30). This creates a consistent 30 day delay between your work week and when it is eligible for payout. You will be paid weekly, with each Friday’s payment reflecting work completed approximately one month earlier.
Example Timeline:
- Weeks begin on Sunday and end on Saturday
- You drive during the week of JANUARY 4TH - 10TH
- We invoice the client on the following Monday JANUARY 12TH
- The client has until the week of FEBRUARY 12TH to pay
- If paid on time, your deposit is issued by Friday, FEBRUARY 13TH
This cycle repeats weekly, ensuring predictable weekly payments based on this rolling timeline.
