What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corporate Accountant position at Cookie Finance?
About Cookie Finance
Cookie Finance is a rapidly growing financial technology startup for content creators. We work exclusively with creators and influencers on platforms like YouTube, Instagram, Twitch, and TikTok, and we’ve quickly become the financial backbone for thousands of creator-led businesses.
About the Role
The Corporate Accountant is a hands-on role with significant ownership over the internal financial operations that keep Cookie running accurately and at scale. In the near term, the focus will be on building and hardening the foundations—clean books, reliable AR and billing processes, and internal controls that hold up as the business grows.
We’re growing fast. That means you’ll get direct exposure to leadership, be involved in high-impact conversations, and have real opportunities for growth and ownership as we scale.
Who This Role Is Perfect For
This role is perfect for someone who loves building financial structure from the ground up. You get energized by owning accounting operations end-to-end and take pride in clean books, accurate billing, and building processes that actually hold up at scale.
What You’ll Own
- Maintain accurate and timely internal financial records; own reconciliations and month-end close processes
- Own AR end-to-end, with a strong focus on recurring subscription revenue—monitoring failed payments, aging balances, and subscription lapses
- Manage Stripe as the system of record for subscription billing and AR, ensuring pricing and plan changes are implemented cleanly
- Manage AP workflows, approvals, and payment schedules, ensuring vendors are paid accurately and on time
- Perform financial analysis and expense analysis to identify trends, variances, and cost optimization opportunities—and translate that into actionable insights for leadership
- Build and maintain reporting that gives leadership clear visibility into revenue accuracy, cash flow, and AR health
- Define, document, and implement accounting processes where they don’t yet exist—bringing structure to an early-stage environment
- Coordinate with external tax and accounting partners as needed
What We’re Looking For
- 3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, with at least some time at an early-stage company or in a role where you owned the function end-to-end
- Proven ability to build structure and processes into a start up environment—you’ve been an early accounting hire or operated without a playbook
- Strong experience with accounts receivable, accounts payable, and month-end close
- Hands-on experience managing subscription billing (Stripe preferred)
- Exposure to financial analysis and expense analysis, with the ability to translate numbers into insights
- Familiarity with SaaS or subscription-based businesses is a plus but not required
- A self-starter default—we’re a small team navigating the usual startup complexity; high ownership, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities are expected
