What You’ll Be Doing
The Referral Specialist is responsible for providing clerical, billing, referral and reception support for the clinic.
The successful candidate will be able to:
- Answer all phone calls timely, and in a professional and courteous manner
- Route calls and messages appropriately
- Effectively communicate with all staff and providers amongst all clinics
- Responsible for calling and scheduling referral appointments for patients at all locations.
- Fax any requesting information and ensure proper set up paperwork has been completed.
- Follow up with the specialty offices to ensure the patient was seen and request records
- Communicate appointment dates to the patient and ensure they have a follow up appointment with the referring provider
- Communicates with primary care provider to inform of any delays or barriers to patients care.
- Communicates with Supervisor when unable to process referrals or follow-ups
- Carries out patient discharge processes; clarifies and provides patients with follow up care instructions and referrals.
- Ensure all results and reports from either in-house testing or outside testing is in the chart prior to the physician seeing the patient or according to the physicians request. Perform any and all other duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Experience in the medical field preferred
- Excellent PC skills, specifically with Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
- Ability to thrive in a busy, fast-paced clinic setting and maintain a passion to help those in need
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills required
- Work independently, requiring minimal or no oversight and guidance
