Position Summary:
The Packaging Operator is primarily responsible for bottling and packaging of nutraceutical products in accordance with relevant quality procedures and good manufacturing practice requirements. The Packaging Operator conducts critical checks to verify that in-process and finished product specifications are met. This role may also involve cross-training such that the Packaging Operator may also serve a support role in the softgel manufacturing process.
This is a casual position. Hours are scheduled based on company needs, and there is no guaranteed minimum or maximum number of hours.
Responsibilities & Expectations:
- Operates bottling and packaging line machinery, which includes softgel, liquid, and paste nutraceutical products.
- Performs machinery set-up and break-down activities, as well as routine cleaning and maintenance.
- Follows and complies with required quality standards and documentation requirements, including batch production records, and raises any quality-related concerns to their team lead or supervisor.
- As necessary, works with team lead and supervisor to receive cross-training on other production machinery.
- Performs inspections and checks on specific equipment and machinery to ensure optimal functionality, and reports to team lead or supervisor with any concerns.
- Follows all Good Manufacturing Practices and standard operating procedures, as well as all company occupational health and safety standards and expectations.
- Attends regular meetings to receive daily tasks and other relevant information.
- Follows the production schedule as communicated.
- Meets all shift requirements including arriving at work on time for all scheduled shifts.
- Communicates any ideas for improvement in areas of safety, quality and productivity to supervisor.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications:
- Basic computer proficiency is an asset.
- Mechanical/machinery experience is desired but not required.
- Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills are required.
- Strong attention to detail is required.
- Good communication skills are required.
- Continuous improvement mindset is required.
- Must be able to routinely lift 60 lbs. (25 kg) and able to stand for long periods of time.
