What are the responsibilities and job description for the Used Car Service Technician position at Cook Ford?
We are looking for an experienced Used Car Service Technician to join our growing team! The right candidate will have a strong automotive repair background, solid diagnostic skills, and experience working on a wide variety of makes and models. ASE certifications are preferred, and manufacturer certifications are a plus. The day-to-day duties include diagnosing vehicle concerns, performing repairs, and preparing pre-owned inventory to meet our quality and safety standards.

- Perform work specified on repair orders efficiently and in accordance with dealership standards
- Diagnose, maintain, and repair a variety of automotive systems, including engine, transmission, suspension, steering, brakes, electrical, heating and air conditioning systems
- Inspect and recondition used vehicle inventory for retail sale
- Test-drive vehicles and test components and systems using diagnostic tools and service equipment
- Perform multi-point inspections and identify needed repairs or maintenance
- Communicate directly with Service Advisors and management regarding vehicle status and additional repair recommendations
- Complete repairs according to manufacturer and dealership standards
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Stay up to date on new vehicle technology and repair procedures across multiple brands
- 2 years of automotive technician experience preferred
- Experience working on multiple makes and models is strongly preferred
- ASE Certifications preferred
- Manufacturer certifications are a plus
- Strong diagnostic, electrical, and mechanical repair skills
- Ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Strong attention to detail and quality control mindset
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Basic computer skills
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
