Under the direction of the Audit Supervisor performs financial, compliance and operational audits of County agencies or businesses. Responsible for gathering and analyzing data for internal audits. Research laws, regulations and County ordinances. Establishes and implements audit programs. Collaborates with Audit Supervisor(s) during all phases of the audit process including developing and documenting a plan for each audit, developing auditing objectives, audit scope, budget and resources needed. Prepares work programs to achieve audit objectives. Completes audits within budget and time deadlines. Communicates results of internal audit to the Audit Supervisor and County Auditor. Prepares audit reports and management letters. Assists in the implementation of recommendations from internal audit. Assigned to special assignments as needed. Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Three (3) or more years’ full-time work experience assessing risks, controls and processes for compliance, efficiency and/or effectiveness is required.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • In good standing as: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Government Audit Professional (CGAP), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Risk Management Assurance (CRMA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or Certified Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC).
  • Master’s in Business Administration or Public Administration.
  • Six-12 months of supervisory experience in a professional work environment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS

Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and auditing standards. Knowledge of basic management practices and procedures. Ability to comprehend an agency's accounting system. Thorough knowledge of internal control concepts and procedures. Ability to identify possible errors, irregularities, and illegal acts. Ability to ascertain compliance with laws, ordinances, and regulations. Skill in observing an entity's operations and documenting those observations with narratives or flowcharts. Ability to objectively and tactfully communicate with others. Ability to communicate in writing in a concise and grammatically correct manner. Skill in evaluating information for problem solving. Skill in organizing information in a logical manner to support audit results. Ability to maintain an attitude of professional skepticism throughout an audit. Ability to direct the analytical review process. Working knowledge of applicable software programs, such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, SharePoint, Teams, Visio and Office 365. Ability to interact with client in resolving difficult audit issues.

Physical Requirements
