Regenerative Agriculture and Livestock Team Assistant (Part-Time, Temporary)

Ministry Function:

The Regenerative Agriculture and Livestock Team Assistant supports the ministry of Convoy of Hope by assisting the CAFS Team/Global Program Working Group in special projects and assigned tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Participates in agriculture duties at the Center for Agriculture & Food Security (CAFS):
   • Garden maintenance: cultivation, planting, and harvesting.
   • Regenerative agriculture plot stewardship.
   • Livestock husbandry.
   • Maintains irrigation systems as directed by staff.
   • Supports tours and volunteer sessions at the CAFS.
2. Ensures that all tasks are completed at a high level of excellence in order to provide demonstration and training opportunities for communities to implement sustainability.
3. Fulfills other duties as assigned.

 Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

1. Experience with livestock management and handling techniques, farm machinery operation, crop management, and harvest as well as farm operations including fence building, maintenance, crop production, and livestock vaccination is required. A Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture is preferred; a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
2. A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.
3. Experience with tractor operation and equipment hookup preferred. 
4. Possesses ability to positively contribute to team projects, cooperate with team members, and assist with planning and evaluation.
5. Displays good written communication skills for creating, editing, and proofreading correspondence.
6. Demonstrates strong organizational skills, detail orientation, and follow-through.
7. Willingness and ability to work outside of standard business hours on an infrequent basis.
8. Demonstrates ability to multitask, solve problems, and manage deadlines.
9. Possesses proficiency with PC and software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
10. Is able to lift and carry farm supplies and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds individually and more with assistance and safely move or handle livestock.
11. Possesses the ability for prolonged walking or standing, frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching. Requires a full range of physical motion to operate manual, electrically powered, and gasoline-powered equipment and machines. Can move throughout assigned areas, as the work is often performed outdoors year-round.
