As Director of Residential Design, you will own the entire design experience, leading the creative direction, overseeing client selections, mentoring junior designers, and ensuring deliverables are aligned with scope, budget, and schedule. This role is both visionary and tactical, ideal for someone who can elevate aesthetics while running a tight ship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design department: mentor, manage, and uphold design standards.
  • Guide clients through all design phases, from inspiration to final selections.
  • Create mood boards, palettes, renderings, and design documentation using Chief Architect.
  • Ensure all selections are uploaded, tracked, and updated in BuilderTrend.
  • Collaborate with architects, PMs, and trades to ensure constructability and alignment.
  • Present confidently in high-pressure client scenarios, balancing empathy and assertiveness.
  • Keep projects on budget and on schedule without sacrificing emotional or aesthetic value.
  • Continuously improve systems, workflows, and documentation processes.

Qualifications:

  • 5 or more years in high-end residential design. With at least 2 years of leading or mentoring designers.
  • Advanced proficiency in Chief Architect and BuilderTrend.
  • Experience producing high-end residential design documentation and renderings.
  • Strong grasp of cabinetry, millwork, finish carpentry, and construction sequencing.
  • Meticulous organizational skills, files, systems, and spaces stay clean and up to date.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with clarity and calm.
  • Charismatic and professional, with exceptional listening and presentation skills.
  • Consultative sales mindset. Able to guide clients while maintaining scope and budget.
  • Emotionally intelligent and effective at de-escalating tension with clients and team.
  • Ego-free, Golden Rule practitioner who builds trust across all relationships.
  • Comfortable in a high-accountability, fast-paced environment.
  • Deeply aligned with legacy thinking, your designs are built to last.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
