The Role
Project Managers (PMs) at Convergix Automation are key leaders and mentors to their peers. We see them as the “CEO” of the projects assigned to them. They strive for project execution excellence by managing a team of subject matter experts. Primary objectives are to manage Cost, Schedule and Scope according to the contract from start to finish, to excite the customer with the performance of the product and the services provided, and to deliver business results that meet or exceed Convergix’s expectation for awarded projects. This position reports to the Vice President, Project Management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver multiple projects with a focus on customer satisfaction, on-time delivery, and cost efficiency
- Mentor and manage project team members while enforcing Convergix’s project management fundamentals
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation including budgets, labor forecasts, risk registers, schedules, and change management trackers
- Facilitate internal and client design reviews, preventing scope creep and applying risk mitigation strategies
- Develop and manage detailed project schedules with critical path analysis using MS Project for complex jobs
- Identify and analyze unplanned costs and root causes to support systemic problem-solving
- Collaborate with Engineering and Supply Chain teams for timely design releases, material procurement, and supplier documentation
- Control project changes impacting scope, schedule, or budget through Convergix’s change management process
- Capture and document lessons learned throughout all project phases per company standards
- Lead customer review meetings, provide regular updates, and oversee Site Acceptance Testing and final buy-off
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Reliable transportation and an ability to travel; although this position is focused on local clients and minimal travel is required, you should have the ability to travel within US and Canada
- Experience supervising a team
- Communication proficiency is a must
- Team-oriented approach to leadership
- Highly developed problem solving skills
- Facility proficiency is a must
- At least six (6) years of experience in engineering design and machine building
- Including at least two (2) years of experience in project management or a related field
- Two (2) years from an accredited university with a degree in engineering or a related field
- Two (2) years of progressively responsible engineering experience; or any combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Desirable
- Project Management experience, PMP certification preferred
- Technical Capacity, and experience in the custom automated equipment business is an asset
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, talk and hear.
- Occasionally lifts or move up to 25 pounds.
