The Role
As the Mechanical Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of skilled professionals in designing and developing high-performance automation systems for the life science sector. Your leadership and technical expertise will shape the future of mechanical life sciences automation, ensuring excellence in engineering operations, project execution and standards of the industry. Key Responsibilities
Qualifications and Experience
- Accountable for the Design Groups performance in terms of achieving/defining functional targets, meeting/beating project budgets, and ensuring on-time delivery of scope.
- Ensure engineering excellence is achieved by active participation in project and design reviews as the approval authority while adhering to the defined process and Stage-Gate methodology.
- Review and verify feasibility of proposed project plans for resourcing, milestone dates, and budgets such that project teams are setup with what is required to execute to the plan.
- Respond to escalated project and operational challenges with strategic plans and tenacious follow-through to completion, while driving a culture of urgency into the team.
- Be the mechanical process owner to develop, approve, and ensure compliance of documented standards and processes for standardization and consistent execution.
- Communicate project status, risks, and opportunities to clients, stakeholders, and team members. Accountable for the group’s talent development through active coaching, mentoring, training, and front-line management of both the leaders and team members.
- Foster a workspace atmosphere that is in strong alignment with values and promotes an extraordinary employee experience.
- Prioritize and allocate technical resources to successfully complete projects and ensure project schedules meet on-time delivery milestones. Communicate team resourcing and project execution performance.

Essential
- Bachelor's degree and/or minimum ten years managing an Engineering team
- Proficient in SolidWorks CAD software including FEA simulation.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Products)
- Prior experience leading or mentoring technical teams, managing work
- Technical aptitude with problem solving skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal/ communication skills,
- Must possess strong organizational skills, teamwork, and leadership skills.
- Reliable transportation and an ability to travel; Engineering Managers at Convergix should have the ability to travel within the US and Canada
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, talk and hear.
- Occasionally lifts or move up to 25 pounds.
