About the Role
Convergence Controls (a Tetra Tech company) is seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager to support the execution of large-scale I&C (Instrumentation & Controls) engineering programs for industrial data center power generation facilities. This role will be embedded within a multi-project program delivering control system integration, SCADA/HMI development, panel design, and network engineering across sites in Texas. The position reports to the Program Manager and works directly with client engineering leadership, EPC partners, and third-party equipment vendors.
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day project execution across phased delivery milestones for power plant I&C scope, including schedule management, deliverable tracking, risk register maintenance, and client reporting
- Coordinate engineering deliverables across disciplines including control system architecture, panel design, SCADA/HMI (Ignition), PLC programming (Allen-Bradley ControlLogix), SIS/safety systems, and network/communications infrastructure
- Manage interfaces with EPC partners, microgrid controller vendors (SEL), BESS/UPS integrators (On.Energy), gas turbine OEMs (GE, Dynamis), and ISP/fiber contractors
- Maintain project schedule alignment between Tetra Tech internal milestones and EPC/client master schedules; identify and escalate critical path conflicts
- Drive vendor coordination meetings across multiple stakeholder groups including client I&C/IT teams, design groups, and construction contractors
- Own project controls artifacts including the PM Workbook (risk register, gap register, meeting register, action items), WBS/deliverable matrices, and Phase 0 FEL documentation
- Support EI&C standards development and gap analysis efforts across the program
- Manage change orders, Project Change Notifications (PCNs), and scope boundary clarifications with the client
- Track earned value, budget performance, and resource loading; prepare weekly status reports for internal leadership and client PM
Qualifications
- 10 years of project management experience in industrial controls, power generation, or data center infrastructure projects
- Direct experience with I&C / control system integration scope: DCS/SCADA, PLC programming, panel design, network architecture, or commissioning
- Familiarity with phased project delivery models (FEL / Front End Loading through construction and startup)
- Working knowledge of relevant standards: ISA-18.2 (alarm management), ISA-101 (HMI), IEC 61511 (SIS), Division 25 specifications, or NERC CIP
- Experience coordinating with multiple EPCs and third-party equipment vendors on concurrent project sites
- Proficiency with project scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera, or equivalent) and earned value management principles
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to lead cross-functional coordination meetings and produce clear technical documentation
- PMP certification preferred but not required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field
- Willingness to travel periodically to project sites in Texas
