Senior Associate, Credit

Required 4 days per week in the office (Mon-Thurs) at our new office location at 295 Madison Ave, New York, NY

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Senior Associate, Credit to join our team. This person will review bridge loans to assess credit risk and make recommendations on loan structure. The credit review of these loans involves an in-depth analysis of collateral value, borrower experience and creditworthiness, and transaction diligence.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Analyze the value of residential investment properties before and after renovation/construction, with a focus on ground-up construction and multifamily
• Review borrower experience and ability to execute on proposed projects
• Proactively identify key risks and take action to mitigate them, ensuring Conventus’ strong loan performance.
• Core skillset in reviewing and structuring loans on new lot development / build to rent communities of single-family homes/ horizontal development projects
• Valuing vacant land and projecting after completion value for residential/multifamily properties
• Conduct research on real estate markets to provide a holistic view of target markets and submarkets
• Complete transaction diligence to reduce fraud risk
• Make recommendations on loan structuring to senior Credit team members
• Review and analyze third-party valuations for accuracy and submit disputes as needed.
• Support a positive and collaborative working environment, with flexibility and willingness to participate in process improvements and strategic growth initiatives.
• Communicate in a time-sensitive manner with Sales, Operations, Servicing, and Capital Markets teams regarding suitability and risk of live and funded loans.
• Maintain a working knowledge of investor guidelines and policies.
• Provide feedback to improve the underwriting process.
• Comply with all company policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Undertake ad hoc projects to help improve the team and business.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

• 2-4 years of experience in a Real Estate-related field.
• 2-4 years of lending-related experience (prior real estate private lending experience a plus).
• Familiarity with architectural plans, scope of work, and construction cost estimates
• Understanding of single-family housing market dynamics, land acquisition challenges, and regional build costs
• Experience with valuation and credit analysis around horizontal development, valuing entitled / unentitled land, and other various stages of complex development projects
• Real estate valuation experience (both single-family and multifamily preferred)
• Ability to work independently and handle non-routine situations with solutions-based problem- solving skills
• A demonstrated team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is willing to roll up your sleeves to get things done.
• Ability to foster and cultivate relationships with a thoughtful and forward-thinking approach
• Strong organizational and critical thinking skills, with impeccable multi-tasking abilities
• Proficient in Excel
