What are the responsibilities and job description for the Boys Varsity Soccer Head Coach position at ConVal High School?
ConVal Regional High School is accepting applications for the boys' varsity soccer head coaching position. The head coach is responsible for leading, developing, and managing the school's soccer team. This includes fostering athlete skill development, promoting safety, organizing practices and competitions, and creating a positive team culture. The coach serves as a mentor and role model, upholding the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic integrity. Candidates should have coaching experience, or advanced playing experience, and a dedication to developing people of character in line with the school's mission and vision. The next coach will be dedicated to helping each student-athlete reach their potential as a player, student, and citizen, while instilling the concepts of community, adaptability, respect, engagement, and safety.
The head coach is responsible for student safety, practice and meet planning and management, and all aspects related to a school program including equipment and uniform management.
ConVal is part of the New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association and abides by the Association's rules and regulations. All coaches must be certified (or become certified) as required by the NHIAA.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
2. Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport. (Major sports)
3. The head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport
and, at the same time, must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
4. The head coach must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through his/her instructions and actions.
REPORTS TO: The athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principals
SUPERVISES: In several instances, the head coach must advise, coordinate and support a staff of high school assistant coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and respective principal.
JOB GOAL: To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in the student athletes. To upgrade his/her knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc.
