Facilities & Maintenance Technician

Location: Pittsburgh, PA (primary) and Irwin, PA

About Us

Conturo Prototyping and Kin-Tech Manufacturing are precision machining companies serving the aerospace, defense, energy, robotics, and research industries. Together, we operate two manufacturing facilities with CNC mills, lathes, EDMs, CMMs, compressors, chillers, and other industrial equipment.

We are looking for a hands-on Facilities & Maintenance Technician to help maintain our equipment, buildings, and infrastructure while supporting continuous improvement projects at both locations.

This position works directly with the President and offers the opportunity to learn every aspect of industrial maintenance, machine installation, and manufacturing support.

Position Summary

This is a hands-on, physically demanding position for someone who enjoys solving problems and working with their hands.

No two days are the same. One day you may be running conduit for a new CNC machine, the next you could be troubleshooting a coolant pump, repairing a compressor, installing network cables, or maintaining building systems.

The successful candidate is dependable, mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and enjoys taking ownership of maintenance projects from start to finish.

Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance

• Perform preventative maintenance on CNC machines and shop equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues.
• Repair pumps, motors, valves, bearings, belts, and other machine components.
• Assist with machine installations, relocations, and upgrades.
• Maintain compressed air, coolant, and utility systems.

Facilities Maintenance

• Perform general building maintenance and repairs.
• Install conduit, pull wire, and assist with electrical projects.
• Maintain lighting, HVAC, plumbing, and facility infrastructure.
• Coordinate with outside contractors when needed.
• Maintain an organized inventory of maintenance supplies and spare parts.

IT & Infrastructure

• Assist with computer, printer, and shop network setup.
• Support machine networking and basic IT infrastructure.
• Help install and maintain cameras, Wi-Fi equipment, and connected devices.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and facility efficiency.
• Recommend preventative maintenance improvements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Valid driver's license.

Preferred

• Industrial maintenance experience.
• Industrial electrical experience.
• Machine repair experience.
• Knowledge of motors, pumps, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Experience running conduit and performing electrical work.
• Welding or fabrication experience.
• Basic computer networking or IT experience.
• Forklift or rigging experience.

Physical Requirements

• Lift up to 75 pounds.
• Frequently bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
• Work safely around industrial machinery.
• Travel between our two manufacturing facilities as needed.
