What are the responsibilities and job description for the Journeyman Electrician position at Control Tech?
Job Brief:
The Journeyman Electrician will provide on-site installation, servicing, diagnostics, and repairs for a customer’s electrical products and equipment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Completes QA/QC redlines for as-built construction drawings.
- Reads and interprets schematics and drawings related to electrical, mechanical, and architectural drawings and electrical code specifications.
- Repairs and adjusts system components (sensors, transmitters, programmable logic controllers, etc.); removes and replaces defective parts.
- Pulls wire through conduits, holes, and splice, join, and/or connect wire to form circuits.
- Tests circuits to ensure integrity and safety.
- Completes daily field work orders and maintains hours worked and equipment used.
- Completes inventory transfers and provides monthly warehouse inventory reports.
- Senior Journeyman will complete on the job training documents for Junior Technicians.
- Participation/compliance with company safety programs & company policies.
- On-call support as required.
- Other duties as required.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- Journeyman License.
- Experience using pressure and/or electrical test equipment to troubleshoot systems.
- Ability to read, interpret, and understand piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID) drawings.
- Work long hours and participate in on-call schedule as required.
- History of good customer relations.
- Technical training or experience in the oil and gas industry is an asset.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills with the ability to learn and use an ERP system, IFS w/ Aurena Tech Portal preferred.
- Standard First Aid/CPR with AED, OSHA 30, and Safeland, with preference for OSHA500.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug and alcohol test (required for safety-sensitive roles).
- Completion of a criminal background check, with results assessed based on relevance to the position.
- Verification of a clean driving record, as defined by Control Tech’s standards (e.g., no major violations, no more than 3 infractions in the past 5 years)
