Job Overview:
APIC solutions is looking for an entry level Fire Sprinkler Design Technician to join our team. Individuals will learn to create detailed plans for automatic fire protection systems using specialized software. This includes layouts, hydraulic calculations, stock listing, submittal packages, etc. Candidates will work closely with our current team of designers and project managers while also coordinating with contractors, local authorities, and architects to integrate fire sprinkler systems into building designs. Candidates should have a degree in Fire Protection, mechanical engineering or another closely related field.
- Layout of fire sprinkler systems to include wet, dry, and pre-action systems
- Design of standpipe systems, fire pumps and water storage tanks
- Perform hydraulic calculations
- Read and interpret construction drawings and project specifications
- Produce stock lists for material procurement
- Coordinate with other trades to produce installation quality shop drawings
- Perform BIM modeling
- Prepare full submittal packages
- Remain current with evolving codes and standards
- Obtain NICET certification or PE
- Field survey existing buildings
- Perform hydrant flow tests and analyze water supply characteristics
- Collaborate with field personnel to streamline system installation
