What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machinist/Set-Up position at Control Devices LLC?
Brief Summary of Position Purpose:
- To perform set-up of CNC and mechanical chucking machines and to operate machines as required.
- Set-up and monitor machining process.
Essential Functions:
- Set-up and operate drill press, roll marker and any other related equipment.
- Inspect machined parts visually and using gauges.
- Pre-set tooling as required.
- Monitor equipment operation and make minor adjustments required to ensure proper and safe operation. Report more serious operating and safety issues as directed.
- Assist with various levels of equipment maintenance including performing less complex mechanical and limited electrical repairs, preventive maintenance and lubrication. Also assist maintenance personnel with more major repairs.
- Train and monitor performance of Machining Set-up trainee and Machine Operators.
- Operate, as required to load, unload and move raw materials and finished parts and tooling, various material handling equipment including lift trucks and cranes.
- Maintain records as required.
- Perform and document preventative maintenance as required.
- Maintain a clean, safe and orderly work area.
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
Education/Training/Certifications:
- High school diploma/GED preferred
- Technical training preferred
Experience:
- 3 years' experience as a Set-Up operator
- 1 years' manufacturing experience preferred
Required Skill Sets: (e.g., computer skills, communications, math, etc.)
- Must be able to edit programs, and program and operate robotic automated equipment
- Perform machine operator duties
- Preset tooling
- Perform basic and complex mechanical repairs
- Measure and gauge machined parts
- Minor welding
- Perform minor electrical repairs, such as changing switches
- Perform basic machining using machine tools, such as lathes
Physical Demands: (e.g., lifting, travel, etc.)
- Lifting up to 50 pounds
- Fast paced production environment
- Position requires concentration, accuracy, and focused mental effort
- Works in plant environment with exposure to plant heat, moderate noise, dust, dirt and fumes
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- The employee frequently is required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms
