This position is responsible for leading preparation of drawings and sketches utilizing appropriate design criteria and technical manuals. Able to integrate management skills with expert technical knowledge and understanding of the business to identify technical requirements. He/she applies highest level of technical skills gained through extensive experience on a broad range of projects, and anticipates complex technical issues and identifies resources internal or external to the team who can resolve the issue(s). This position identifies opportunities to improve on the technical standards and specifications around which others operate and serves primarily as the lead designer for a designated subject area or project.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Experience with pipe stress evaluation using Caesar.
- Takes responsibility for their portion of the discipline’s scope, schedule and budget and delegates accordingly to junior staff. Continued demonstration of reliability and accountability for own work products. Meets or exceeds deliverable deadlines.
- Prior experience with CADWorx Plant Professional & ISOGEN required.
- Prior experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D and PDMS preferred.
- Evaluate the scope of work using P&ID's and specifications to design piping systems while adhering to plant design standards.
- Display a good working knowledge of industry standard drafting practices, good mechanical aptitude and general knowledge of engineering.
- Has good communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
- Lead a team on an assigned area or phase of a project and may be required to conduct field investigation trips to operating plants.
- Ability to support work for/in multiple other offices.
Key Qualifications (Education, Experience & Certifications):
- Licensed Professional Engineer
- 10-20 years of piping design experience within the chemical process industry
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel as this position will require individuals to be onsite with customers.
