Weldment Quality Assurance Inspector

Step onto the shop floor and into a role where your eye for detail keeps every fabricated weldment and assembly on-spec. From the first arc to the final sign-off, you’ll be the quality gatekeeper—verifying dimensions, visual characteristics, and documentation so customers receive exactly what they ordered.

A day in the life

You’ll begin by reviewing work orders and blueprints, then move from station to station performing in-process checks. With calipers, micrometers, and tape measures in hand, you’ll compare results to requirements, communicate needed adjustments to department leadership, and keep production flowing. At the end of the line, you’ll complete final inspections, document outcomes in Epicor, and release—or route for rework—finished goods. When rework is required, you’ll validate that corrections fully meet spec before approval.

What you’ll do

• Verify in-process work against specifications through visual and dimensional inspection; promptly communicate any required adjustments to the appropriate department manager.
• Approve or reject finished product by confirming all requirements; return items for rework when needed and confirm the rework is completed accurately.
• Record results in reports, logs, and the quality database (Epicor); summarize rework and waste.
• Use and care for measurement devices per instructions to ensure reliable readings.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to understand quality expectations for products and supplied components.
• Maintain required records of tests, findings, and metrics.
• Decide disposition on periodic inspections and apply tags in accordance with procedures.
• Prepare and submit reports to the Quality Manager as needed.

Qualifications

• 1 years in quality inspection or equivalent training.
• Background in a welding manufacturing environment is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with inspection tools and methods: tape measure, calipers, micrometers, and more.
• Sharp attention to detail and a results-driven mindset.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
• Knowledge of safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face shield, gloves, PPE, etc.).
• Experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
• No supervisory responsibilities.

Work environment

This role is based in a manufacturing environment. Expect loud noise, moving mechanical parts, vibration, and occasional work around chemicals with hazards as defined on accessible Safety Data Sheets. Moderate temperature changes may occur over an eight-hour shift.

• Regularly talk and hear.
• Frequently stand, walk, use hands to finger/handle/feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, push, crouch, or crawl.
• Frequently lift/move up to 10 lbs; occasionally lift/move up to 50 lbs.
• Vision needs include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
