Your day at a glance
You arrive on time, review the day’s prints, set up your TIG machine, and confirm amperage and gas flow. You’ll lay out and fit aluminum parts, tack, and complete welds in flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions. Between passes, you’ll verify dimensions with micrometers, calipers, gauges, and fixtures, then record production and quality data before moving to the next assembly. Preventive maintenance, troubleshooting minor issues, and calling in repairs when needed keeps your station ready.

What you’ll handle
- Set up and operate TIG welding equipment and related tools
- Weld, cut, and grind aluminum in a variety of thicknesses
- Tack and complete assemblies using electric, gas, arc, or other welding processes
- Lay out, position, and secure parts per specifications, blueprints, and drawings
- Follow weld and assembly notes; perform manual or semi-automatic welding in multiple positions
- Ignite torch and adjust valves, amperage, or voltage to achieve proper flame or arc
- Complete preventive maintenance; follow manufacturer guidelines; troubleshoot and request repairs
- Document work by maintaining production and quality logs
- Use precision measuring instruments and perform detailed in-process inspections
- Attendance: Show up prepared and on time, follow your schedule, remain on task through the day, and minimize unscheduled absences.

Requirements to succeed
- Follow all procedures, work instructions, and operational processes. Non-compliance can lead to increased customer rejections, higher internal scrap, shipping delays, personal injury, and negative environmental impact.
- Immediately contain and report any nonconforming product to management.
- No supervisory responsibilities in this role.
- 1 years of TIG welding experience or equivalent training
- AWS D1.2 TIG Certification (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire)
- Successful completion of the CIT weld test
- Hands-on experience with a range of welding equipment and procedures
- Comfort with electrical and manual tools (saws, squares, calipers, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation
- Knowledge of applicable safety standards and consistent use of PPE (face shield, gloves, etc.)
- High dexterity and strong attention to detail
