What are the responsibilities and job description for the 1st Shift Machine Helper position at Contract Converting?
Job Summary
As a crew member of a machine, you will be responsible for working safely while taking direction from the machine operator and operating numerous lift devices. This position will require mastering the Shafter and Packaging duties. Shafter and Packager duties are critical in operating a machine effectively in addition to manufacturing finished product for our customers. Other duties may be required.
Job Descriptions
Shafter Duties
o Read all job requirements and follow instructions accurately
o Safety use a core cutting machine to cut cores to the proper length
o Assist operators with roll changes, splices, and removal of trim to increase machine run time
o Shaft cores and use the lift hoist to load and unload shafts at the start and end of a run
o Use Dalmac lifting devices to move shafts to and from the machine and lift rolls from the table to pallets
Packager Duties
o Read all job requirements and follow instructions accurately
o Band skids with either metal or plastic banding
o Select the proper skid size, banding and roll orientation as specified by the job requirements
o Label individual rolls uniformly and stretch wrap skids neatly
o Weigh skids, record skid heights, neatly place address labels to finished skid
o Operate forklifts to move skids, store inventory, or move inventory from racks to machines
