Contra Costa Behavioral Health Services is offering an excellent employment opportunity as a Registered Health Information Technologist. This position is assigned to Behavioral Health Administration to oversee all BH sites in the Contra Costa Behavioral Health Division located in Martinez, California. Behavioral Health Services provides Specialty Mental Health Services (SMHS) and Drug Medi-Cal-Organized Delivery System (DMC-ODS) services and programs to children, adolescents, young adults, adults, and older adults of Contra Costa County. The Registered Health Information Technologist is responsible for overseeing Health Information Management, planning, developing and coordinating medical records procedures and protocols for programs throughout the Behavioral Health Services Division and their community-based contracted organizations.

What you will typically be responsible for:
- Act as the Custodian of Records for the Behavioral Health Division
- Supervise, train, and evaluate the work of clerical or technical staff engaged in medical record activities
- Develop policies and procedures involving the creation, use, storage, preservation, and disposition of medical records
- Assist in the preparation of complex periodic and special reports on Behavioral Health activities for use by Behavioral Health Leadership as well as for State and other agencies
- Evaluate the effectiveness of medical record activities and initiate and monitor appropriate improvement activities
- Respond to requests for access or use of medical records

Minimum Qualifications:
Certificate: Possession of a valid Registered Health Information Technologist or Registered Health Information Administrator certificate issued by the American Health Information Association.
Substitution: Graduation from an American Health Information Management Association approved Health Information Technologist or Health Information Administrator program. Within 12 months of employment, appointees must pass an examination for certification as a Registered Health Information Technologist or Registered Health Information Administrator administered by the American Health Information Management Association.
