Conta Costa County’s Public Works Department is seeking qualified individuals to fill one (1) Engineering Records Technician position in the Records Section of the Administrative Services Division. The position is responsible for managing engineering records, responding to public requests for records, and maintaining and updating the department's electronic records management system to ensure accurate, accessible, and current information.

The Contra County Public Works Department (CCCPWD) is responsible for the maintenance and operation of over 650 miles of roads, 79 miles of streams and channels, and over 150 County buildings. CCCPWD services include parks and recreation, sandbag distribution, flood control, road and facilities maintenance, and storm water management. CCCPWD operates two airports, Buchanan Field Airport in Concord, and Byron Airport in Byron. CCCPWD strives for continuous improvement to deliver cost effective, safe reliable and sustainable projects, programs, and quality services.

What you will typically be responsible for:
  • Provide records-related customer service to County staff and the public.
  • Maintain and update the electronic records management system by incorporating new and revised records.
  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of records.
  • Coordinate with vendors to obtain office supplies and maintain office equipment.
  • Assist staff and the public with locating and accessing records online.
  • Research, interpret, and analyze technical information and records.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Possession of a high school diploma, G.E.D. equivalency, or a high school proficiency certificate.

Experience: Three (3) years of full-time experience responsible for the maintenance and retrieval of records of a complex filing system.

Desirable qualifications:
  • Experience working for a public agency.
  • Experience managing or working with engineering records.
  • Experience using electronic document or records management systems.
  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
  • Experience interpreting technical documents and information.
