POSITION TITLE: Human Resource Generalist
SUPERVISOR: Human Resource Specialist
LEVEL: Salary – Exempt
DURATION: 12 months
SALARY: $55,000-$60,000
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; three to five years of human resource management experience preferred; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. SHRM-CP Certification a plus.
Knowledge:
Thorough working knowledge of office procedures and equipment. Knowledgeable in school systems, including Frontline and Infinite Visions, preferred. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Ability:
Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment. Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records. Ability to work effectively under time constraints, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and ability to work with a diverse population.
Skills:
Expertise and skill in utilizing personal computers, popular word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong organizational skills.
SUMMARY:
Performs administrative, professional, and technical work supporting the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) Department, including recruitment, hiring, administering benefits and leave, and enforcing District policies and practices. Performs all other work as required. This position is designed to ensure the accuracy and confidentiality of the personnel functions for the district.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conducts recruitment and facilitates the hiring of qualified substitute applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
Exercises discretion and independent judgment with respect to varied human resource functions the position is responsible for.
Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
Utilizes the Frontline system as a super user for the district, which hosts attendance, recruiting and professional development.
Performs tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; productivity; occupational health and safety; and training and development
Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Processes and maintains the online system for all employment applications for all certified and non-certified personnel
Prepares, processes, and enrolls eligible employees in applicable benefit plans
Processes and post changes for COBRA, FMLA, and Unemployment
Coordinates and conducts annual open enrollment sessions for benefits
Prepares and processes employee annual agreements and contracts in conjunction with the Business Office
Meets with all employees to explain health care options, NH Retirement and other benefits as necessary
Assists employees with personal questions with regard to wages and benefits as necessary
Generates and ensures the accuracy and punctuality of reports for the State, and others as needed
Develops and distributes nomination lists as required
Designs and/or redesigns necessary forms
Prepares and processes Employment Ads and job postings
Maintains HR webpage as necessary
Performs other job-related tasks or services as assigned by the Human Resource Specialist
