Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide exceptional care and assistance to individuals with diverse needs. Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident’s personal assistance devices
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes promptly to healthcare teams
- Administer medications following HIPAA guidelines and care plans, ensuring accuracy and safety at all times
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs, including cooking and meal planning in accordance with health protocols
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing routine cleaning tasks in residents’ living areas, common spaces, and activity rooms
- Support residents during community outings or social activities to promote engagement and socialization
- Document care activities meticulously in compliance with healthcare regulations and assist in updating personalized care plans
Qualifications
- Previous experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care settings preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care (including Alzheimer’s care), memory care, autism support, and hospice care is highly desirable
- Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, HIPAA compliance training, and medication administration are required or can be obtained upon hire
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physical tasks necessary for patient transfer using equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident’s
- Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate attitude towards individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges
- Experience working with individuals requiring specialized care for conditions such as dementia or Alzheimer’s is a plus
- Ability to follow detailed care plans accurately while maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA regulations
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed
