Schedule: M-F, 8-5. Friday is WFH day

Brokerage experience is absolutely essential

They're assigned accounts and they process entries from when they leave origin to when they arrive

Arrange delivery and things – domestic cartage from port of entry to origin destination

Take import documents, analyze them, apply customs tariff codes to apply the proper duty, report anything to government agencies like Fish & Wildlife, DOT, etc. and file that paperwork within the time constraints of delivery

Ensure duties are paid and customer invoiced (this person may invoice them depending on the assigned account)

Summary / Primary Role:

The position of Import Specialist/Entry Writer will have primary responsibility for creating and transmitting entries for import shipments.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

(Management may amend or assign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time)

· Process customs entries and all other related government agency interfaces that may apply.

· Meet service level requirements in accordance to the client's standard operating procedure (SOP).

· Meet entry preparation and submission requirements based on client SOP, product service level and/or country and government agency requirements.

· Prioritize work based on estimated time of arrival (ETA), product service level, workflow processes, last free day and transportation mode.

· Classify entry per client SOP, Parts Database, and/or direction from licensed customs broker/classification specialist.

· Enter required shipment data and customs data into the brokerage system.

· Proactively work with government agencies and customs authorities to resolve issues.

· ALL OTHER DUTIES AND PROJECTS AS ASSIGNED.

Qualifications and Key Skills:

(The following are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, or ability required for this position)

· Previous Import experience is required.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

· Must have familiarity with U.S. Customs Regulations.

· Employee must have or will achieve through on-the-job training:

· Ocean and air freight industry information

· Carrier selection (ocean, air and domestic)

· Knowledge to identify specialized cargo (hazardous, OOG, overweight)

· Inco terms

· NVOCC terminology and methods

· Container specifications

· Other/Partner government agency requirements

· World Geography

· Be able to read and understand the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS)

· Strong ability to interact both interdepartmentally and with outside sources to ensure the customer needs/requirements are met. Communicates through written correspondence, phone, e-mail, and fax to acquire information/documentation and provide direction.

· Basic mathematical computations. Appropriately add and compute fees, taxes, and other charges. Time zone determinations and carrier schedule computations. Conversions needed for pricing calculations and how to apply to rating of ocean and air cargo bills of lading.

· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
