Position Title: Industrial Maintenance Technician

FLSA: Non-Exempt, Full-time

Reports to: Plant Manager

Position Summary

The Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining industrial machinery and equipment in a manufacturing setting. This role ensures the smooth operation of production equipment through both preventive and corrective maintenance tasks. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and is adept at troubleshooting and problem-solving.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on industrial machinery and equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, production machines, stamping presses, automation packaging equipment, manual and CNC equipment.
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots mechanical and electrical issues, utilizing test equipment and precision measuring instruments as needed.
  • Execute scheduled and preventive maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs as needed to restore equipment function quickly.
  • Disassemble and reassemble machinery components, including replacing defective or worn parts.
  • Interpret and utilize mechanical blueprints, electrical schematics, equipment manuals, and work orders to perform required maintenance.
  • Document maintenance activities, track work orders, and analyze performance trends.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records of parts and supplies, anticipating future needs and placing orders as required.
  • Collaborate with production teams and other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize production disruptions.
  • Maintains manufacturing assets and facility, parts inventory, monitoring purchase orders, work with manager on invoice approvals and acts within budget.
  • Foster an environment of accountability, safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement
  • Maintain effective working relationships and cooperation with all departments.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, including OSHA standards and Lock Out Tag Out procedures, maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • As required, this position will be expected to be flexible on work schedule to ensure optimal business operations. May require irregular hours or on-call availability, including overtime on weekend shifts depending on operational needs.

Education, Qualifications, Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required, technical training, associate's degree, or certifications in Industrial Maintenance
  • 10 years of experience in industrial or manufacturing maintenance or a related field preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of CNC and Manual Machines preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical and mechanical systems, including troubleshooting and repair of AC/DC motors, VFDs, PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics, and various equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools, and ability to operate equipment such as forklifts, hoists, and cranes safely and efficiently.
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills are beneficial.
  • Formidable analytical and problem-solving skills, communication, and time management skills.
  • Detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Experience managing multiple vendors and assisting managers in negotiating contracts and pricing.
  • Demonstrate proficient computer skills including ERP systems or maintenance planning systems.
  • Effective leadership and project management experience required.
  • Ability to consistently maintain positive relationships.

Physical Demands, Work Conditions and Occupational Exposure

While performing the duties of this job, the employee:

  • Be able to work in a demanding physical environment, including lifting and moving heavy objects, standing for long periods on concrete floors, and working at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Will frequently sit at a desk, stand and walk for prolonged periods on concrete
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE
  • Operates and handles a computer, equipment and tools using hands and fingers frequently to complete tasks
  • Will use specific vision abilities required by this job which include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • Exposure to extreme heat, hot, dust/fumes, cold outdoor and indoor conditions
