Duties And Responsibilities
An Accounts Receivable Accountant is responsible for overseeing and analyzing a company’s accounts receivable to ensure timely customer payments and the accuracy of financial records. This role includes proactively monitoring receivable aging, leading collection efforts related to joint interest billing activities and partnering with internal and external stakeholders to resolve past-due accounts. Additional responsibilities include reconciling and applying payments, responding to customer inquiries, and generating financial reports to support decision-making and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Monitor accounts receivable aging and proactively drive collection efforts to ensure timely customer payments.
- Lead collections activities for joint interest billing, including follow-up on past-due balances and escalation as needed.
- Partner with internal teams and external customers to resolve billing issues, disputes, and delinquent accounts.
- Investigate and reconcile account discrepancies to maintain accurate financial records.
- Apply and reconcile customer payments in a timely and accurate manner.
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding invoices, balances, and payment status.
- Prepare and analyze accounts receivable reports, including aging and collection performance metrics.
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities to improve collections and reduce outstanding receivables.
- Support month-end close activities related to accounts receivable.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Contribute to process improvements to enhance efficiency and strengthen receivables management.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel to streamline data analysis.
- Strong written and verbal communication for interacting with customers and internal teams.

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of three (3) years of related experience.
- An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.
- Oil and gas accounting experience preferred.
- Experience in handling payment discrepancies and disputes efficiently.
- Knowledge of SAP accounting software.
- Knowledge of joint interest billing practices in oil and gas industry.
- Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, and stooping.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity is sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
