Packaging Set-Up Technician 1 - 2nd Shift

Position Title: Packaging Set-Up Technician I

Department: Engineering and Maintenance

FLSA: Non-exempt

Reports to: Engineering/Maintenance Manager

Job Location: Huxley

Hours: 2:30pm to 12:30am Mon - Thur

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Sets up packaging equipment and ancillary components as necessary to achieve scheduling, safety, and quality goals.
• Performs preventative maintenance on, and troubleshoots any issues that arise with, packaging equipment.
• Performs changeover to packaging equipment to achieve scheduling, safety, and quality goals.
• Operates hand tools (such as wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.) and power tools (drills, saws, impact drivers, etc.).
• Adjusts packaging equipment to achieve scheduling, safety, and quality goals.
• Contributes to decisions in the planning and implementation of production schedules.
• Sanitation of packaging equipment and general good housekeeping within the immediate area of assigned work.
• Documentation of activities including but not limited to maintenance and sanitation performed.
• Recommends updates to SOPs of packaging equipment and line layouts.
• Maintains proper storage and adequate supply of change parts.
• Wears appropriate Personal Protective Equipment as required, including but not limited to; safety glasses, steel-toed or composite-toed boots or shoes, hairnets, beard nets, welding hood.
• Ensures work practices in the Chemical Hygiene Plan are followed.
• Performance of operations in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and FDA Good Manufacturing Practices.

Education and Experience:

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• 3-6 months experience working with mechanical packing equipment (such as fillers, labelers, encoders, cappers, tapers, and conveyor belts) preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in machinery.

Computer Skills:

• Willingness to learn/operate manufacturing applications (such as Global Shop Solutions) and/or Microsoft Office products.

• Working well under pressure & time constraints.
• Knowledgeable in principles of mechanics and electronics.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
