The Continental Club is a boutique Oakland nightlife and hospitality venue known for elevated service, curated events, and a high-touch guest experience. We are expanding our hospitality team and seeking experienced, polished waitstaff to provide exceptional service during events, nightlife programming, and special engagements.
Position Summary
The Waitstaff/Server is responsible for delivering a high-quality dining and beverage service experience to guests. This role requires strong customer service skills, excellent memory, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, upscale nightlife environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet guests promptly and professionally; provide menus and describe offerings.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders while demonstrating strong product knowledge.
- Enter orders correctly into the POS system and ensure timely delivery.
- Maintain awareness of guest needs and anticipate requests without prompting.
- Provide recommendations and upsell premium items in a genuine, service-focused manner.
- Ensure tables are clean, organized, and properly preset throughout service.
- Coordinate with bartenders, kitchen staff, and management to deliver seamless service.
- Handle payments accurately, following all cash-handling and card-handling procedures.
- Maintain compliance with ABC regulations, Continental Club policies, and CA food safety laws.
- Follow all health, sanitation, and safety standards.
- Professionally resolve guest concerns or escalate to management when needed.
- Participate in pre-shift meetings, training sessions, and service briefings.
- Assist with event setups, breakdown, sidework, and closing duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1–2 years experience in fine dining, upscale lounges, high-volume cocktail bars, or premium hospitality environments.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong memory and ability to recall orders, details, and guest preferences.
- Knowledge of food, spirits, wine, and craft cocktails.
- Ability to stand, walk, carry trays, and lift up to 25 lbs for extended periods.
- Must be 21 due to alcohol service.
- Valid California Food Handler Card and RBS (or obtained within 30 days).
- Knowledge of California alcohol service laws and ABC regulations.
Qualifications Required
- Experience with Toast POS or similar systems.
- Experience in nightlife, VIP service, or high-touch guest environments.
- Bilingual preferred (not required).
Schedule & Working Conditions
- Nights, weekends, and holiday availability required.
- Shifts may include late-night hours based on event schedule.
- Non-exempt hourly position; eligible for overtime pursuant to California law.
Compensation
- Competitive hourly base wage (per Oakland minimum wage standards) plus tips.

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
